Tumaini Orphanage

“Tumaini” is the Swahili word for hope. Because of the eternal hope Christians have in Christ, Christ Presbyterian Church seeks to bring hope to orphans in Kenya and raise the next generation of Christian leaders in Kenya through Tumaini Children’s Village.

We established the orphanage in 2008 with the purchase of 14.5 acres of land and opened the orphanage in mid-2010 when we welcomed the first 34 orphans. For the first time in many of their lives, these children entered a loving and safe family environment.

Tumaini Children’s Village is based on the biblical model of a Christian family. Each orphan at Tumaini lives as a member of one of six families at the orphanage. Each family lives in its own home and is led by a married Christian husband and wife who are the house parents. Tumaini Children’s Village is home to almost 120 Kenyan orphans along with seven Kenyan married staff couples and their 21 biological children.
