Tumaini Orphanage
Tumaini is the Swahili word for hope. This name was chosen because of the hope Christians have in the eternal savior, Jesus Christ. Through Tumaini Children’s Village, Christ Presbyterian Church seeks to bring hope to orphans in Kenya by raising and discipling future generations of Christians.
Established with the purchase of 14.5 acres of land in 2008, the orphanage welcomed the first group of 34 orphans in mid-2010. This was the first time many of these children entered a loving and safe family environment.
Tumaini Children’s Village is structured around the biblical model of a Christian family. Each orphan lives in one of six family cottages led by a Christian husband and wife serving as parents. The six family cottages accommodate a total of 120 Kenyan orphans along with cottage parents and their 21 biological children.
