Worship Ministry
Sunday Worship
The vision of the Worship Ministry is to lead people to worship God through ordinary means of grace.
Each Lord’s Day we praise and glorify the Lord through Word-centered worship which draws from the rich well of music that is the church’s heritage. Our Worship Ministry seeks to provide people with a means to draw near to God with the singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs through modern and traditional styles.
Service in the Worship Ministry
We provide many opportunities to serve in the Worship Ministry. We offer a Worship Choir, Concert Choir, Orchestra, as well as opportunities to serve with media, ushers/greeters, and communion set up. Learn more about Worship Ministry service opportunities below.
For choir information, contact BJ McDougal.
Worship Choir
The Worship Choir is the adult choir of Christ Presbyterian Church. This group is for adults of all ages. Our primary focus is to lead worship for our Sunday worship services. We sing anthems that draw from the rich treasure trove of music found throughout history. This non-auditioned choir welcomes people who love to lead worship and sing great choral music. Come join us!
We rehearse Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00 pm, late August through April.
Concert Choir
The Concert Choir rehearses for our annual Handel’s Messiah Concert in the fall. If you are interested in being part of our 2024 performances, please contact BJ McDougal.
In addition to Handel’s Messiah, our Concert Choir performs other choral masterworks that comprise the rich tradition of choral singing throughout the centuries.
You do not have to be in the Worship Choir to participate, but you must possess an advanced level of vocal and choral skills.
Children’s Choir
The Children’s Choir participates in Worship Services periodically, as well as presenting a special Christmas play each year. Contact Angela Ikard for information about Children’s Choir.
For band & orchestra information, contact BJ McDougal.
CEPC Band
The CEPC Band is an integral part of our Sunday morning worship experience. We strive to create a diverse and unique worship style, which comprises modern, traditional and classical music.
Orchestra
The orchestra plays for our worship services, as well as for special musical events. To be in this group you need to have had several years training with your instrument, preferably high school level. However, it all depends on how well you play your instrument.
For information, contact BJ McDougal.
Media Ministry
The Media Ministry comprises four important areas: sound, lighting, video and worship slides. Each of these elements are vital to our worship services. If you have experience, we would love to get you involved.
Ushers & Greeters
Ushers and greeters are usually the first to be seen as a guest enters our church. This is a special place of service and very important to the life of our church. We need people that can smile, answer questions and help people find their way around our facility and make them feel at home.
Handel's Messiah | A CPC Tradition
The Concert Choir & Orchestra, along with special guest soloists, present Handel’s Messiah each December. Our 2024 performances are December 12, 13 & 14, 2024.
The Concert Choir rehearses for our annual Handel’s Messiah Concert in the fall. If you are interested in being part of our 2024 performances, please contact BJ McDougal.
Free general admission tickets will be available at 7 pm each evening for that evening’s performance. Tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, so please arrive early.
As our eighteenth season unfolds, we anticipate yet another wonderful experience for the Christmas season. The CPC choir and orchestra along with special guest soloists will once again delight you with this special masterwork. Handel’s Messiah has become a wonderful tradition here at Christ Presbyterian Church.
This year’s performances will again be highlighted by our 17th century Flemish harpsichord. This instrument is an authentic Flemish style single manual instrument after Ruckers as designed by Marc Ducornet with all parts and materials from Atelier Marc Ducornet in Paris, custom built by Gerald Self.
It is an honor to be able to present this wonderful masterwork. This has become a Christmas tradition for many of you, and hopefully, many more in the future. “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty, God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince Of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
