DESCRIPTION:The Concert Choir & Orchestra\, along with special guest soloists\, present Handel’s Messiah at 8 pm December 7\, 8 & 9\, 2023. \nFree general admission tickets will be available at 7 pm each evening for that evening’s performance. Tickets are distributed on a first-come\, first-served basis\, so please arrive early. \nAs our nineteenth season unfolds\, we anticipate yet another wonderful experience for the Christmas season. The CPC choir and orchestra along with special guest soloists will once again delight you with this special masterwork. Handel’s Messiah has become a wonderful tradition here at Christ Presbyterian Church in Houston. \nThis year’s Messiah performances will again be highlighted by our 17th century Flemish harpsichord. This instrument is an authentic Flemish style single manual instrument after Ruckers as designed by Marc Ducornet with all parts and materials from Atelier Marc Ducornet in Paris\, custom built by Gerald Self. \nIt is an honor to be able to present this wonderful masterwork. SUMMARY:Dr. Sinclair Ferguson at CPC
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to welcome Dr. Sinclair Ferguson to preach in both services (8:30 am and 11:00 am) on October 8. Sinclair B. Ferguson is a native of Scotland and earned his Ph.D. at the University of Aberdeen. He was minister of two churches in Scotland\, on the Island of Unst the most northerly of the Shetland Isles\, and in St George’s-Tron\, in the center of Glasgow\, as well as serving in the USA at First Presbyterian Church\, Columbia\, S.C. In addition\, he has served the past several years as a Chancellor’s Professor of Systematic Theology for RTS. He is currently the honorary evening preacher in St Peter’s Free Church of Scotland\, Dundee. He has authored around fifty books and contributed to many others. He and his wife Dorothy have been blessed with three sons and a daughter and eleven grandchildren.
